Participated in unofficial events as a kid put on by neighborhood adults.
Entered several "backyard boxing" matches as a young adult between the ages of 18-22 in Denver Colorado.
These were barbecue/party situations that were promoted with flyers and word of mouth by a husband and wife who had started a gym only to have it fail rather quickly.
Cover charge to get in and eat/drink would provide cash prizes for the winning fighters.
Fought Olympic style minus the head gear.
14oz gloves.
I won 4 out of 4 of the cash prize fights at 153 pounds.
Prizes ranging from $300 to the high of $1200 on the last one entered during a 4th of July block party.
2 technical knockouts caused by straight rights to the body and 2 cases of obvious defeat based on points.
I had never registered with USA boxing but, now at 31 years old I am taking the steps to get a copy of my birth record and a physical so I can hopefully compete in small events sooner than later.
Dedicated, hard working and, looking to spar at least one solid session a week.
More if it seems right.
I may not have an official record but, I learned things the hard way and I can guarantee I'll keep whoever wants it plenty busy.”
